Cream Stone, Anna Nagar – Ingenious Indulgence

It’s been almost a year since this hip ice cream joint opened up in Chennai, at Alwarpet and now they’ve opened the third one at Anna Nagar! The other one being at Thoraipakkam, it totally shows that they’re *BANG* that big a hit and for good reason! Apparently, this branch is their biggest yet in the country of the 28 branches they operate. It is located in the building adjoining Starbucks on 2nd Ave, prominently marked by their bright bubbly Cream Stone logo which is definitely hard to miss.

The entrance is pretty wide and has quite an ample parking for about 10 two wheelers and 5 cars along the sidewalk. Quite a tall building, this branch is spread over 2 floors which could easily fit about 120 people. The parlours have a common ambiance in their branches; pink, white, brown and mauve which makes the surrounding so pleasant to be at and it feels like entering Candy Land (Oh, that’s a flavour too!).

In addition to the uber comfortable cushioned sofas, this branch also has the swiveling bar stools. The effective air conditioning and the cold ice creams of this place are the definite guards against the summer that’s coming!

Service is again very well coordinated; the main reason being they have a good number of staff bustling around to make sure everyone is well provided for. Exceptionally skilled behind the cold stone, they excel at blending the ice creams brilliantly. Courteous, friendly and prompt, Cream Stone offers one of the best services at an ice-cream parlour.

Cream Stone’s concept is pretty neat and straightforward. From the bunch of flavours of ice cream they provide you get to mix and match with the bigger range of quirky, DELICIOUS and innovative toppings which on choosing will be well mashed together on the cold stone to get a perfect blend of the flavours you fantasize! “FREEZE YOUR IMAGINATION” indeed! This falls under the ‘Make Your Own Concepts’.

For those who’d rather rely on the store for this (read as the lazy ones :P) they’ve got a whole range of readymade concepts on their menu! From the brilliant chocolate ones, fresh fruity ones, crunchy nutty ones, low cal ones to the ones that’s gonna magnet your kids back in here, the range they provide is just delightful. All ice creams are given in a paper cup with a fresh waffle cup on top of which the ice cream is placed! Double delight indeed. Why I love this Cold Stone Creamery over the others is because they blend the ice cream to a silky smooth texture whereas in most of the other parlours least care is taken at the cold stone and the ice creams ends up with icy little bits which dilutes the taste of the ice cream. Chocolate lovers are the ones who are maximum benefitted here, me being one of the biggest no complaints! They have more than 10 flavours dedicated just for that. ‘Willy Wonka’, ‘Ferrero Rocher’ & ‘Chocolava’ are probably the ones I would say I ABSOLUTELY love the most!

‘Lychee Lake’ is great in the fruity side and ‘Coffee Craze’ is SURE to satisfy the coffee maniacs. The ‘Magic Pop’ for kids is quite as amusing for adults as well; a trip down the memory lane with the Magic Pop packets we had during our school days! Well, the list could go on and you would just be salivating there whereas you should actually be heading down there and beat the heat!

The quantity is quite satisfying and they have two variants in that as well; the Mini and the Regular, where the mini has always sufficed as a dessert with both the ice cream and the waffle cup filling you up.

Prices are proportional to the quantity and I felt they are ABSOLUTELY reasonable when compared to the other parlours. A mini scoop costs somewhere between 90-100 whereas the regular sizes range from 150-200. For now, Anna Nagar residents have quite something to celebrate: Adieu to the milky Creamy-Inn “ice-creams”.
