Britannia NutriChoice Essentials in association with Semora Entertainment Works hosted the Britannia NutriChoice Essentials Diabetic Masterclass Food Trail in Chennai which provided valuable insights into wellness and diabetes management.
The event was held at Park Hyatt Chennai. There were various enlightening sessions on what can be done for managing diabetes and maintaining one’s wellness.
The person behind this initiative is Seema Pinto, a diabetic herself, who is a foodie. But having diabetes means she must have restrictions on what she can eat when not at home. Being in the event management industry, she travels all around the country and faced this problem quite too often. This frustrated her and she met a lot of people facing the same. That’s when she decided to start Diabetic Masterclass Food Trail which can help raise awareness about diabetes management and also help health conscious and diabetic people dine at restaurants without compromising on taste. All the participating restaurants will feature special and complete ‘diabetic friendly’ menus with Appetizers, Entrees, Salads, Desserts and Mocktails.
There was a presentation by a representative from Biocon which is one of the major manufacturers of Insulin and he claimed they disrupted the industry with their aggressive pricing of Insulin in India.
Then there was a presentation by Dr Wasim who talked about wellness and importance of maintaining a balanced diet. He explained that it the proportioning and balancing the meal composition that mattered the most.
Finally, the Chefs Vamsi & Teuku from Flying Elephant walked us through cooking delicious diabetic friendly dishes. They gave a detailed explanation as to what ingredients were being added and why and gave their essential nutritional information.
